Brain easily forms a habit. It learns by listening from others, watching and witnessing some events and doing and redoing the same action. If you drink a mocha daily after eating your lunch or checking your social media account for new updates continually, it is highly probable that you will have a brand-new habit...

Repetitive actions will be sending messages to your brain which emphasize the importance of those actions. So your creative brain easily pays attention those messages in order to learn from them. Basic motivator is the survival of itself.

Making habit is the task of the brain. We as human are familiar to developing a habit. Mind has two motivator for doing this. Pleasure and pain. If you enjoy doing something, brain becomes habituate it easily.

However, a habit may work against you. It has a destructive effect on you and can turn into an addiction effortlessly.

It may be extremely hard to unlearn a useless habit because it triggers pain center of the brain. A great deal of effort may not be able to be enough so as to ward off that unproductive habit. Your efforts would determine the ultimate outcome for both options.

What is the trick to be able to break a habit?

Here comes the solution. You should keep resisting to engage in that habitual activity. But it takes some time to be unlearned. So you have to resist again and again and again in a systematic way so as to implement new behavioral pattern. In other words, you need to block brain's habitual responses until they die away.

As you can see, there is no quickest way, but just perseverance.

It is obvious that successful people have highly effective habits, in addition to this, they know to get rid of unnecessary habits intentionally or unintentionally.
